Leadership in Music

Today I attended a presentation, presented by none other than Mr.Stedman Graham. Now, if you dont know who Stedman Graham is then you might want to take a look at a picture of Oprah Winfrey and you might figure it out. But, besides being Oprah's soul partner he is also a very intellecutual man and has a lot of good perspectives.

So, now ask yourself how does leadership really connect to music, well its simple through leadership you get innovation. With innovation is when you get ideas flowing and new creative ways to go about making music. Graham went over several aspects of being a leader and got a point across of being one self and having a clear vision of who you are. When presented with a clear vision then you find structure in which you can obtain your vision or goal, or in this case your masterpiece song that you have wanted to record your whole life.

But, you will never truly be able to make that masterpiece until you have a clear vision of who you are and where you may want to take that song, when creating it. A lot of people today are all stuck in the "norm," making songs that are all similar in listening rather then just doing their own thing and creating something unique. So, next time your working on that smash hit don't forget to be creative and never be scared to use your VISION!

Grammy Nominations

So here are the Grammy Nomination Votes for Record of the Year:
Lady Gaga - "Poker Face" (4738 votes)
Kings of Leon - "Use Somebody" (840 votes)
Taylor Swift - "You Belong With Me" (748 votes)
Jonas Brothers - "Paranoid" (602 votes)
Jay-Z feat. Rihanna and Kanye West - "Run This Town" (516 votes)
(Tokio Hotel - "Automatic" got 35,725 votes but was released in September and is not eligible until 2011)

Okay people, Lady Gaga obiviously blows everyone out of the water with her votes. Like I said before Lady Gaga is TALENTED to say the least. In my opinion Mizz Gaga will probally walk away with this award hands down. I could be wrong though, the odd but always entertaining Gaga gave 2009 a music icon that can be identified by people all around the world. For her crazy ensembles at this year's VMA's, I think put her over the top in the public's eye. Not to mention she also leads the votes in Album of the Year, which was titled "The Fame."

But, lets not forget everybody's surprise artist this year Susan Boyle, Boyle was a contestant on the British American Idol and stunned the world. She was a previous 48 year old unemployed woman from a small town in England. It is crazy how someone who does not look the part can have it all in the bag.

Here is a link to a video of her memorable performance.

QR Codes and Ways to Market Music

So they have found another way to market things without you even knowing it. The new trend is the QR code, which from some sources who tell me are now being used throughout Europe. QR codes can be used by any smart phone and are basically links to websites with advertisements. It is a great way to get people thinking and possibly have them find your music. A basic way to do this is to simply come up with a QR code, which can be created at:
http://qrcode.kaywa.com/ with these codes a smart phone can take a picture of it and re route your internet right to the code that contains your website. So people if you have a myspace or a facebook, or any other website with your music, a great way to get people to see your stuff would be by posting QR codes everywhere. If you are an idependent artist wanting to expand your audience maybe a QR code is not such a bad idea.

R.Kelly . . . Singer or Independent FIlm Pioneer?

R. Kelly still making headlines today with his new release Untitled (*** Out of four.) On this new album.  Kelly includes a huge parental advisory sticker for all the people who prefere their lyrics squeaky clean. But, it has been about 7 years since the whole pee scandal and despite the golden shower he is still doing it. Now, we do not     know if it was him or not but people lets be honest, I am pretty sure ya boy let it rain. But in my opinion R.Kelly is a very talented artist and comes through with a hit every time he puts it down. His new album features some pretty big names like Keri Hilson, Robin Thicke, and even The Dream out of his own Chi-Town. Please leave your opinions on Mr.Kelly, is he just a pisser or a musical hitster?

What Songs Are Hot on November 30, 2009

So, today we have MTV's top videos with one of their choices being Lady GaGa and "Bad Romance"," deffinately a catchy song. Lady GaGa is the 09 version of Madonna, she puts on a hell of a showeverytime she performs and with all those crazy outfits, entertains the hell out of all who watch, not to mention being a very eye pleasing image for the gentlemen.  She is an insane writer when it comes to music and is more then talented. I personally write music myself and I find myself trying to step my game up everytime I hear a new song from Miss GaGa. Always catchy and always creating a new sound, GaGa killed it on this one I give it a 8.5 out of 10.

Next, we have "Baby By Me," by non other the most notorious rapper in the game 50 Cent. This is honestly in my opinion noty even close to his best songs, but his album Before I Self Destruct is an ill album. If you have not checked it out I suggest you do that like right now. I give this song a 7 out of 10.

Okay, to the next song we have "Whatcha Say" by Jason Derulo, this track FIRRRREEEE! Getting in with Warner Bros. was deffinately good for this guy, killing it in his first single. I can't say more about this song take a peek at it and hear for yourself. I give it a 9.5 out of 10. Lets just hope his next song can top this one.

Well everyone its time I get up outta here , so long and O Yeah stay classy Orlando
